Introduction to Singapore Residential Landscape
The residential estates of Singapore are highly concentrated in the middle of the island state. The Western, Northern and North-eastern corners are used for industrial or business parks, North-western corner for military while the Eastern corner is used for the airport and logistics hub. The green portion in the middle is Singapore’s only Central Catchment Area which comprises of nature reserve and reservoirs. As a result, the land space to build residential property is extremely limited.
About 80% of Singaporeans live in public housing while 5% of Singaporeans live in landed properties. The rest of Singaporeans either own or stay in private apartments. This website is focused on new launch private apartments (or building under construction).
Public housing and landed properties cannot be purchased by a foreigner.
