1) Business Parks arising from the re-location of Paya Lebar Air-base

Defu Industrial Park

Over the next 15 to 20 years, the existing factories at Defu Industrial Estate will be progressively replaced with new industrial complexes. Revitalised into a modern industrial park, complete with landscaped greenery and environmentally sustainable features and be renamed Defu Industrial Park. The new Defu Industrial Park will be increased five-fold to 2.1 million sqm of industrial space, which will help meet Singapore’s future industrial needs.

Defu Industrial Park houses three key zones:

1) The Northern and central zones will be safeguarded for strategic industries such as logistics, precision engineering, infocommunications and media, electronics, clean energy and biomedical

2) The Southern zone will be set aside for new modern industrial complexes to house the existing factories in Defu Industrial Estate. The existing food-related companies will be re-located to Bedok Food City.

Lorong Halus Industrial Park

Landfill hills may have uses such as heavy vehicle parking under a worker’s dormitory or multi-tenanted factory facility. Potential industries at the larger parcels in Lorong Halus could be food manufacturers, precision engineering and logistics companies. Smaller parcels along the riverfront could be allocated to smaller and lighter manufacturing companies such as those producing lifestyle goods and fashion products.

3) Development of upcoming cross-island line

Cross-Island Line

The cross-island line would connect all existing radial MRT lines by 2030 and close to half of the 30-plus stations would be interchange stations. There would be time savings of up to 30 to 40 minutes (50% travel time), providing an alternative to East-West Line to improve connectivity and and capacity along East West corridor. The aim would be to reach most parts of Singapore in less than 60 mins.

According to the outline path of the cross-island line, it would be passing from Ang Mo Kio towards Hougang on to Pasir Ris and Changi. There may also be a branch line to Punggol, which enhances the connectivity in this area.

4) Punggol Creative Cluster

The Creative Cluster will provide a space for innovative new industries, new jobs and opportunities that will engage and excite.

A Learning Corridor, designed to house new educational institutions including a new tertiary institution, will be developed alongside the Creative Cluster to meet the dynamic needs of innovation. Singapore Institute of Technology’s (SIT) new campus will be built alongside in the neighbouring Learning Corridor.

The tertiary institution will act as a catalyst of growth to forge fresh synergies between the community and industries. As such, students can apply what they have learnt at the Creative Cluster, while companies can leverage on SIT professors and students for solutions to problems.
